The unfortunate event of a major fire, destroying extensive accommodation to a long established town centre shop premises led to this commission.

The premises were rebuilt to form six new apartments and large clear span retail premises at ground floor level, including a new shop frontage in Church Street.The scheme has a communal roof terrace and balconies overlooking the historic courtyards and alleyways of the conservation area.

The development won a Civic Society Award in 2005.
